Happy New Year, everyone! I ended up NOT going to the fireworks last night. I decided it would be too cold and too crowded, so I watched it online and watched the sky flicker from the far-off fireworks. Just as well I decided not to go—Macy left for dinner before I decided against it, and she didn’t return until after I was asleep (2 AM). Turns out she went to the fireworks with someone else, I discovered today.
I’m having dinner now, at Subway. I know, I know, no more American food, right? In my defence, it’s a British sub (with sweet corn. British Subways offer sweet corn!) It’s also one of the only places open near my hostel, and I’m all out of meal-food. I’ve got too British guys discussing 9/11 behind me, 9/11 and prophesies. It’s interesting, but they just left, so I can’t hear the rest of it.
Anyway, at this subway, the last person to order before I came in ordered practically the same thing I was going to order, only he couldn’t pay. The manager offered it to me with a free drink, since he’d have to waste it otherwise. Free drink! Score!
It looked like there was a mini-mart open nearby, which is good, since I’m (once again) out of water. Tesco’s not open, though. Crap. Where will I get my 2L bottles? Oh well, it just has to last me through tomorrow, when everything opens again.
Today, I stayed in all day. I looked for jobs online, and I remembered how hard it is to even know where to start. I’m currently trying to apply to a job as assistant editor at the British Library—note to self, visit the British Library!—and I have a list of other positions to look at. I also need to put money on my cell phone (the site’s giving me difficulties) and buy my train tickets to Salisbury. I ride out on Monday. I think I can tolerate the hostel that long.
Sandwich gone, time to move again!

Whoops, nearly went to bed without putting this up! How silly of me.
Out of everything I was going to do, let’s go through my accomplishments:
Bought water – check (1.5L bottle, not too shabby! It’s about half gone, though)
Bought train tickets – check. Monday, 11:20, out of Waterloo
Put money on cell – check. Got the site working
Applied to job – nope. Waiting on the library to respond to a query.
I’ve forgotten how job hunting makes me lose my ability to write. I can write this just fine, but a cover letter? Answer some questions? Forget about it.
Anyway, I’m pretty tired, and Macy’s already in bed, so I’m going to follow suit and get some shut-eye. Good night, everyone!
